Product detailed description
Instead of a conventional spray, the FS1 panel is wrapped in layers of special ballistic fabric. Why?
It is more effective and lighter. The fabric captures fragments more reliably than spray and does not add unnecessary weight to the panel.
It also protects the edges. Our system protects the panel from all sides (edge-to-edge). This prevents the projectile from dangerously sliding to the edge of the panel, where it could penetrate through.
It withstands more hits. The protective layer is stretched over the edges of the panel, so it does not tear or peel off even after repeated hits. It retains full integrity and is ready for other threats.
The panel was tested and verified at the Military Technical Institute in the Czech Republic. It meets NIJ STANDARD 0101.04, Level III, and is classified as Class III+ due to testing conducted beyond this standard
During official testing, the panel was subjected to the following sequence of hits to verify its multiple resistance:
6x hits from 7.62x51 NATO M80 (ballistically equivalent to 7.62x54R MSC)
6x hits from 5.56x45 M193 (55gn, FMJ soft core)
6x hits from 5.56x45 SS109 (62gn, FMJ steel core)
> Note: This is a threat that most pure UHMWPE panels cannot handle.
6x hits of caliber 5.45x39 7N6 (bullet with soft steel core)
Additional protection
In addition to the above testing, the panel also reliably protects against:
7.62x39 (standard military bullet with soft steel core)
7.62x54R (standard military bullet with soft steel core)
All common pistol calibers (9mm Luger, .44 Magnum, .357 Magnum, 7.62x25 Tokarev, .45 ACP, etc.)
The main advantage of steel: Almost zero trauma effect
The key difference between a steel panel and panels made of polyethylene (UHMWPE) or ceramics is what happens when hit.
Composite and ceramic plates stop the bullet, but they deform significantly. This deformation, called Back Face Deformation, transfers massive energy into the user's body. This can cause serious secondary injuries (rib fractures, organ damage), which can be fatal, even if the plate has not been penetrated.
Even if the impact is not fatal, with larger calibers (e.g. .308 Win, 7.62x54R) the trauma is very painful and the user may no longer be able to fight.
The FS1 steel panel is extremely rigid. It does not deform. Almost no energy is transferred to the body and the risk of secondary injury is completely minimal.
The Weight Myth: Comparison with Ceramics
A common argument against steel is weight, but the difference is not as great as it seems when comparing panels with the same capabilities.
FS1 Panel (M): 2950 g
Ceramic Panel (NIJ III+): A panel that reliably stops an SS109 bullet weighs between 2200-2500 g.
For the price of a slightly higher weight (approx. 450-750 g per panel), you get with steel:
Much lower price.
Zero risk of trauma effect.
Extreme durability and unlimited service life.
Why is a steel panel a smarter choice?
In addition to minimal trauma, steel offers a number of practical advantages that composite materials do not have.
Extreme durability (Multi-Hit) Steel plates can withstand dozens of hits without losing their protective function. A ceramic panel can crack after one hit and lose protection in its surroundings.
Robustness and durability Steel plates can easily withstand falls and rough handling. They do not mind extreme temperatures, rain, salt water or mud. These are all influences that degrade ceramic and PE panels and reduce their service life.
Unlimited service life (No aging) The panels do not age. Even if surface corrosion appears on the surface, ballistic functionality is still 100%. The service life of composite panels is usually 5-10 years. Steel is therefore ideal for long-term storage "just in case".
Significantly lower price The purchase price is often 3x to 5x lower than for comparably durable ceramic or UHMWPE panels.
Technical parameters (Model SAPI-L)
Material: ARMOX 600T (SAAB)
Dimensions: 260 x 340 mm (Width x Height)
Thickness: 22 mm (including anti-fragmentation and anti-shock layer)
Design: Ergonomic SAPI-L shape with curvature
Surface treatment: Cordura, advanced anti-fragmentation coating, anti-shock layer
Weight: 3250 g
Important notes
The price is for one piece of plate. For full chest and back protection, two pieces must be purchased.
For comprehensive protection, do not forget about hip protection and protection against fragments using the so-called soft ballistic insert.
The FS1 panel will retain its ballistic properties in other plate carriers, but is officially manufactured and certified for the FS Ballistic Vest - OOP
